Most of us found our own coping mechanisms to manage cabin fever in the past year. Some acquired new cooking skills like baking bread, gone down the K-pop or K-drama rabbit hole, or started on a fitness journey like cycling, which is a big trend right now.
The biking culture during this "pandemic era" is more than just fulfilling the need to be active outdoors versus in being in enclosed gyms and studios. It also fulfills one's need for a change of scenery and being able to go outside the walls of our homes.
Cycling also gives a chance to fulfill one's need to socialize, reconnect with friends. After or in between rides, there's an opportunity for a catch-up session and to refuel over a cup of coffee in a café or carinderia along the way. This is probably the reason why there are so many cafés popping up in cities and provinces.
If you have yet to traverse Rizal's biking trails and discover the numerous cafés along the highway, main roads, or the ones hidden in plain sight, Yummy.ph asked cyclists who frequently take their bikes to Rizal and asked for their café pitstop recommendations:
Ahon Coffee
Ahon Coffee likes to keep it simple when it comes to its coffee menu. Their espresso-based beverages are Espresso, Americano, Caramel Macchiato, White Chocolate Mocha, Mocha, Spanish Latte, and Latte. As for their non-espresso beverages, they have iced or hot Matcha Latte and Dark Chocolate.
They also offer food you can pair with your chosen cup of coffee. You have options like chocolate chip cookies and savory bread.
Ahon Coffee is located along Sumulong Highway, Antipolo. Look for Double Deck Restaurant.

Cafe Una
Cafe Una started as a roadside café that you can find along Kingsville Heights, Antipolo with nothing but a car to store the ingredients and equipment, and a tent with a coffee stall underneath it. Earlier this year, Cafe Una closed the roadside café and found a permanent home in Bautista, Antipolo where more people can be accommodated with a more extensive coffee and food menu.
If you want more than just coffee, Cafe Una has sandwiches like the Tuna Melt, salads like the Pako Salad, breakfast plates that they serve with brewed coffee, or plates of pasta like the Aglio Olio that they serve with bread.
Cafe Una - Bautista is located at 33 Marilaque Road, Sitio Calumpang, Bautista, Brgy. San Jose, Antipolo City.

Feynman Coffee
Feynman Coffee has a more industrial look with steel bars, dark wood, and bare concrete walls. The menu is more focused on caffeinated drinks and a few options for grub.
Find drinks such as Cafe Americano (P100), Cafe Mocha (P160), Cappuccino (P130), Flat White (P120), Iced Caramel Macchiato (P160), Iced Mocha (P165), Mocha Frappe (P170), Caramel Frappe (P175), Iced Dirty Matcha Latte (P185), Iced Matcha (P165), Hot Chocolate, and Hot Matcha. If you don't want coffee in your system, they also have Banana Yogurt (P125), Mango Yogurt (P135), and Bango Yogurt (P150).
For your coffee-food pairings, they have sandwiches like the Banana x Nutella (P155), Ham x Cheese (P225), and the Chicken Pesto (P245), and baked goodies like Chocolate Chip Cookie (P80), Oatmeal Cookie (P120), or the Chocolate Brownie (P95).

Habagat Coffee and Outdoor Lifestyle
Similar to Cafe Una, Habagat Coffee and Outdoor Lifestyle also started out as a roadside café. They brewed coffee in the trunk of their car with a few chairs next to it for customrs to sit on. Now, the café settled for a permanent location with the coffee shop made to sort of look like a tiki hut.
Habagat recommends a Vietnamese-style coffee and Pork Sliders combo. The Pork Sliders are made with marinated pork, homemade special sauce, fresh tomatoes, cucumber, onions, sandwiched inside pandesal.
Not into Vietnamese coffee? Habagat also has Cold Brew, Sa Isla (Coconut Coffee), Mocha, Double White, Latte, Caramel Latte, and Vanilla Latte.

Typica Coffee
You may know Typica Coffee as the sari-sari store they turned into a minimalist Japanese-inspired café. This café covers the basics of coffee but the highly recommended drinks that you should definitely try are the Spanish Latte (P100), Caramel Macchiato (P100), and White Mocha (P100).
You can pair your coffee with their appetizing pastry offerings like the Basque Burnt Cheesecake (P200) and Hokkaido Cheese Tart (P60). Typica Coffee also has plates of pasta, vegan-friendly cookies, and sweet bread.
